Yeah the "shared looks" (canon queer flirting tactic) that was a callout between cast and crew members for when they noticed shared looks between Finn and Noah... Ross duffer getting it tattooed... yeah I'm reading into it you're right. they point it out as a way people flirt, specifically noted between two characters but I'm dumb for thinking it could apply to them

logically there was just no way it was gonna happen, it just didn't make sense in a season that already had tons of loose ends to tie up. if they had actually set up for it prior to season 5 i wouldn't be saying anything at all

They did set it up, that's what season 4 was. It started in season 3, season 4 is when it became obvious, season 5 volume 1 was intended to make it clear but at that point they had already decided to queerbait. Make no mistake I am blaming Netflix, they did it to klance they did it to byler too

i took it as will figuring out his sexuality and having a crush on his best friend was part of that. personally i didn't really see any point where it seemed like the feelings were reciprocated by mike. more about wills internal journey, which especially makes sense given the time period. he may have had an imperfect relationship with el but that doesn't mean he's gay. and also strong platonic love is very much a thing, mike obviously cares for will very much just not in that way

Your interpretation is valid, my issue with that being the true explanation is that they humiliated Will using his queerness to further along a straight ship which then leads to rovickie being used to only further Will's arc which then in turn furthered mileven. The queer characters existed to help mileven. Like why did rovickie just disappear from the ends? We got one exchange between them in ep 8 and it was robin being snarky to her gf. It's a disservice to the queer characters and honestly

I think I'd prefer the queerbaiting being the worst thing as long as we actually had an established queer couple that we knew and loved (despite giving us little to no content in the actual show) in the epilogue. They couldn't even give us that?

i totally agree with the robin and vickie critique, i would have liked to see at least some explanation for how their relationship turned out. the writers hint at it but they switch back and forth from assuming the audience can figure it out and blatantly telling us things so it's a little difficult to tell... idk
