They are moreso referencing season 4 will and before he found his powers. He had a crush and it hurt him that he didn’t like him back and it made him feel unwanted bc they grew apart a bit tho it had nothing to do w will THEN accepted himself THEN came out. Noah also spoke about how happy he is with wills ending so regardless of how it ends, he was happy with how wills story was portrayed (ik ur welcome to ur own opinions tho)

I never said that but will literally said in his monologue he said “I have a crush on someone even tho ik he’s not like me” and by that we can assume will feels rejected because he believes mike is straight (whether or not that’s true that’s wills perception)
