I honestly can’t wait for the sequels to start getting a lot more love 10 years from now. The cycle is definitely going to continue just like it did with the prequels

I wish I could agree but the sequels are just so bad

I think part of what ignited the fire for the Prequels is honestly the Clone Wars TV show and LucasFilm constantly pushing Prequel content that eventually people warmed up to it. Disney, I think, has let down the Sequels because they’ve absolutely given up on them. We had the Resistance show back in 2018 and some comics here and there and that’s pretty much it as far as post Sequels content.

I strongly disagree. This comparison completely ignores the fact that the prequels were planned and coherent, while the sequels were a mess of a story that made no sense. The prequel films had flaws in their dialogue and execution, but they followed a clear, singular vision laid out by George Lucas from the start. The prequels tell a complete, intentional story about the fall of Anakin Skywalker and the collapse of the Republic. It builds up logically from film to film.

People gained a new appreciation for the prequels because of how bad the sequel trilogy was

I don’t think the sequels were necessary bad, they just lacked direction and suffered from lacking information found in places other than the movies

Even if you aren’t a big fan of them now, I wouldn’t be surprised if you change your mind years from now. Star Wars tends to age better over time. This is partly due to nostalgia, and also because of what comes after. There will be some newer form of Star Wars 10 years from now that everyone will hate, and then they will start to look at the sequels differently

I agree but also the sequels and direction Disney went has made me so disillusioned I don’t even keep up with stuff anymore…and also the prequels actually made sense they just had flaws…the sequels the whole story is kinda cooked (no offense to sequel fans)

This doesn't even mention the fact that the prequel trilogy has some of the best action and fight choreography in Star Wars history. The sequel trilogy was an unplanned, reactionary mess and a tug-of-war between two awful directors. Each film contradicts or undoes the last, with no consistent direction or theme. Rey, the protagonist, was written in a way that rarely allowed meaningful failure or growth because Disney somehow forgot how the hero’s journey works

Not to mention the sequels lean heavily on legacy characters and nostalgia while simultaneously dismantling or undoing their arcs, case in point, Luke Skywalker becoming a hermit and a joke

To say the sequels are bad would be an understatement

True, I think what makes it worse is that Disney had the formula right in their hands and messed it up

For older fans maybe, but for the kids who grew up with the prequels that’s their era. I think we’ll have a similar effect with the sequels as that generation grows older. By then us OT babies will have become one with the force
