I’m gonna do the same thing with my parter- I asked them and we’re starting an au (they’re the survivor from in game of course and I’m a historian synth)

using a softer brush/blending is a really good way to play with and practice shadow imo. block shading works well w your style, but u might feel more confident being more liberal with ur shadow if you don’t have to focus as much on the shape
