people who cant brainstorm for themselves are not artists imo. a huge point of the process is making something WITH A PURPOSE IN MIND, whether that be telling a story, critiquing something, etc. and that begins with the IDEA, not the straight up prompts for drawings that ai spits out

I mean you can have a purpose in mind and get help to figure out how you want to portray it. Is a director not an artist just because he doesn’t build every set or design every frame personally?

Yeah, some people are just lost causes🤷‍♂️ but it doesn’t work, so they’ll learn eventually. I’m willing to bet a studio exec probably sold him in the idea, or it was the only way they were willing to fund a project.
