I think practice a little with tracing some popular rubber hose style characters to get more of a feel for it. Also a lot of rubber hose style characters have unique proportions so maybe give your character some. Like is he lanky or short? is he strong like dorito body or more stick shaped?? And using two lines for limbs then coloring it in can help you get more of the rubber hose limb look
