they’re on a mission to talk to King Maw of the grizzlies to avoid a war :) it used to end with them all just being eaten but that ending is silly and lame so idk what it is now. maybe they don’t even make it to his kingdom

i wanna give more lore just because theyre on my mind. Prince Atlas was the father of the little fawn shown here, he was the leader of the cervid kingdom until King Maw sent a party to slay him. Prince Danse was made ruler in his stead even tho hes only a few moons old and is TERRIFIED of everything

Prince Danse doesnt want revenge on the bear king per se either. he’s always been a pacifistic force, wanting to prevent any more little fawns from losing their parents to needless violence. Annalise and Wedge are more neutral tho, they don’t entirely get why he isnt /enraged/ with the death of his father. he lost family traditions only Atlas knew and had not yet passed on! but Danse is p set in his ways (like papa)

it starts off with Danse making his way out of the Cervid Kingdom, meeting Wedge as he crosses into the Republic of Avians, and eventually into the Lupine Range (mountain range entirely claimed by… canids.) which is where they encounter Annalise on the cusp of stealing a nest of eggs right on the border lmao. she’s a vagabond who was “technically” banned from the Republic for obvious reasons (she’d be put to trial if caught on their land)
