I love the shading around the brow and eye sockets. Nice job! I wonder what pencils you’re using and if you could get deeper darks in there if you used other hardnesses- but genuinely amazing work (sorry I know that advice was unsolicited aaa-)

I absolutely love seeing other artists taking time to comment on people’s posts like this! When I post my art and see comments like this it makes me ecstatic because that means that people aren’t just hitting like and scrolling they are encouraging me to continue and giving advice! I also am really impressed with your technique as well OP! I struggle heavily with portraits and I’m proud of you for studying and improving your skills!!!!! ☺️🥳

Ay appreciate you man, yeah I’m just using a Ticonderoga standard HB. I don’t really like the depth of the darks, but it’s less prone to smudging so it’s better for a sketchbook. I also like that it makes me limit my value range. And I always appreciate a comment!

Thanks very much! I’ll post a few more that I’ve been doing in the comments here. These are warmups for me before inking a more important project.

This is also my Man sketchbook™️. I’ve got a seperate one with Women’s portraits. I focus on planes and values, proportion is a bit less important to me right now because I’ve got it under my belt pretty well
