Perhaps battle dmg on the costume and face. Maybe the tears in the fabric + blood form the logo. I would look into moon knight (2014) issue 3 and 15; he gets beat up a lot in those. A change in the figures’ silhouette can go a long way, i.e. alex toth’s the shadow and zorro. Youre on the right track, just push it a bit further :-)

i feel like one hand being between his thigh shows how distraught he is but in a more submissive way. with both on the outside of his thighs and his fingers gripping the ground, it shows anger and resolve
