(I appreciate the clarification xd) and that is certainly a take, a little grim, but your not wrong humans do tend to never quite reach the same beauty of the natural (or unnatural) world, however there is value in the attempt Why wait to die when heaven could be on earth?

Gotta make sure your building with the right materials and intent then. Many build idols to glorify themselves and end up becoming possessed by pride. Creates a void for their children to live within and fake bars to raise like wealth and/or fame. Or worse, they just persistently seek the appreciation of the humans of their time for their work when at many times/places, the humans are not fit to judge their work. We need not build something to worship when it already exists. Ya know?

The original intent wasn’t really to take a jab at religion, more of a metaphor for “be the good you’d like to see in the world” (or more like beauty and whimsy in this case) To be fair likening astronauts to angels is a little false idol-ly but I meant it more in the vein of honoring the human nature to be curious and creative which I personally see as two features one could attribute to being “made in gods image” (or similar terms used in other holy books)

I’d go so far as to saying exploration and creation are their own forms of worship to revel in all of creation is to more deeply know the divine, tho being that I’m best labeled as Agnostic myself I have a more loose restriction of what’s on the table for said explorative/creative actions but that’s ok in my eyes all things creative and natural are beautiful in their own ways and it’s ok to set limits on oneself if that’s better at speaking their own truth

Oh no, I got the vibe. Didn’t seem false idolish here. If I can pose an on topic question I’ve asked my other agnostic friends to see if we are all in the same ballpark (at one point I was agnostic and even an atheist for a bit) If there was a “God of ____” that was at the top of the pantheon of the divine, what then would you hope that would be the God of? Conceptually? I’ll tell you how everyone answered but I don’t want to affect your answer should you already have something in mind.

Think less of “A god of ____” and more in terms of I believe true divinity is far too complex for people to define or understand in totality even the description of the divine as a “entity” would be a little too restrictive, we define our beliefs based on our understanding of how our world works, true divinity (in sense of a “god”) would not play by the same rules, kinda like a lovecraftian type deal something so beyond us we fill in the blank with whatever we’d like to see.

Or even no god entity could be life and divinity is something akin to the water cycle no divine caretaker just existence passing through states of being and unbeing, or even the “egg theory”, I simply dont have evidence of any of that though so instead of latching on to any one theory I choose to say “I don’t know” which is true, and well when I figure it out it’ll be a little too late to tell someone… so I choose to live in the here and now make life worth it existence of the divine or not

Your approach is humble and honest. Rare these days but I pray I see it more often. Even if it is as you currently have it mapped out, I reckon you have the appropriate foundation building for the concept of “seek and you shall find” to take you the rest of the way. If I may save you some pain and mistakes I’ve endured and wouldn’t wish upon anyone else, it works both ways… so if you seek a malicious entity pulling malicious strings, you will find one. But if you seek an entity that is 1/2

2/2 compassionate, guiding you to it not through trickery or deception, it will find you before you find it… which is also terrifying but a much better path to travel than finding the malicious end first.
