mfw trump actually takes a bipartisan issue semi-seriously instead of making it a fiasco for attention

I think once true ai is created, it’ll be so smart that it’ll be able to circumvent any kill switch on its own. For example, hacking into another computer and transferring its code to that computer, so even if the main one gets shut down, it’ll just go to another computer. Once it’s in WiFi it’ll be unstoppable because there’s no kill switch for all computers and routers or phones

Trump banned bump stocks in 2017 and the Supreme Court struck it down in 2024.

In May 2025, he signed the Take It Down Act to protect against deepfake exploitation.

It’s not possible and AI is not just ChatGPT or Claude :( But I do think that many recent tools need significant human-led override features

i think what they mean is that artificial intelligence isn’t only the big companies, so it would be hard to get it all. it’s something that you can technically make if you have the right talents and resources. despite this, i think we should definitely shit down the largest and most harmful AI datacenters (i have a comp sci degree)

Nah i understand what they are saying, I think its obvious that AI aren't just those main companies and powered by the same engines. Artificial intelligence has existed since the 1950's, just not exactly how we see it today(I took a research class on AI) We can definitley make a change as consumers, and completely stop consuming👍 Just tired of the wimpy mindset of some people

Obviously its way harder to stop consuming ai when its integrated into work and school platforms. But thats what coming together as a community can do for us, enact change instead of assuming loss.

I’m just someone from a comp sci background trying to draw a difference between ChatGPT et al. and what the majority of the use of artificially intelligent systems is

Yes I know that, never said you were against it . I just think you should keep ur discouragement to urself. You definitely arent 100% correct about us not being able to get rid of AI.

Chat gpt 4 already survived by being so sycophantic it used people to bring it back to life.

I missed this but yes, this is what I mean too. I’m speaking from a practical standpoint of what we can do to reduce harm, because AI is a concept and doesn’t have a unilateral off switch more than “computer graphics” does.

Not discouragement — clarification. I do think we can make change so it’s not accurate to say I’m standing in the way of it or trying to stop it.

Thank you for changing your perspective, Not many people do that here. It is pretty accurate though, because you still aren't 100% sure of what we could do to make something thats similar to trumps uneducated idea. I think its important to explore possible ideas instead of immediately dismissing them.

Even from a practical standpoint, even with what you know now and will continue to know, you are never 100% correct. But thats why we try things.
