I’m not offended by this (also feel is not the most fair comparison, a more fair comparison would be a god of another religion I don’t believe in)

It's disrespectful because you're asserting truth of your religion, especially when the goal should be to comfort another person who is in distress. You should seek common ground with the sufferer instead of asserting yourself
