To me, ‘okay’ has a different connotation than ‘ok.’ Almost like a feeling of annoyed or exasperated. But it may just be people doing long form.

I feel the opposite, usually "ok" is the one where I worry they might be mad.. I guess because it's closer to "k" which is usually reserved for when people are mad
