Ppl use religion as an excuse to kill, rape, steal and we’ll pretty much do anything

I understand that but I would also say to understand how religion has given ppl a wanting to help those around them and through. Like; a lot of charities and public service comes through ppl wanting to do it through religion. It’s free will pretty much

religion didn't give people that desire. other people inspired them to have that desire. an important distinction

I mean, depends on how you wanna look at it and depends on the religion. Some religions tells that those who follow it should help the poor, the needy, the ones around us. People definitely do charitable acts to give it up to a higher being. My was that religion has been used as a reasoning to why people do things, good or bad

No humans just want to do that naturally if religion is the only reason you do it you’re not a good person. You’re just afraid of the consequences of not doing it. I volunteer multiple places and it’s mostly non-religious people that volunteer there as well and if a person there is religious, they’re not extremely religious.

Depends on the religion mainly but imo, you do it less for the consciences and more that it’s the right thing to do that you do because the religion says it’s right and helps those around us. People do it less to be in favor with their god but more to take the teachings of said religion in real life.

It’s less “if you don’t do this you go to hell” but more “this is what you should do”. Churches also have ran alot of programs that have help society in the past and present, like orphanages, food banks and even helping those who need help with getting citizenship.

It’s honestly up to your own opinion so it’s ok to believe what you want to at the end of the day
