Djamila Bouhired (1935-) was 1/6 women sentenced to die for terrorism under French set-col. rule. She was released when Algeria liberated herself—07/1962. Without WOMEN’S resistance, Algeria wouldn’t have survived the genocide. 1984—elected to parliament.

Indigenous (Amazigh) Algerian women were crucial to Algerian independence and several other struggles throughout Algerian history as well. Great internet rabbit hole to fall down into.
