Pencils, erasers, erasers that look like snacks, teacher pointers, markers, pins book marks, scented markers, notebooks, sticky notes, it was like a kids office supply store and they also had books but like that was an afterthought because they were like at least 15-20 each and we were all too poor to get that kinda money from our parents so we would just get like a 5 or a 10 and get the other shit so we felt special. Personally I would get my grandma to buy me books

On my iPod or something like that because I was really sensitive to the smell of paper and the texture would freak me out sometimes but I loved to read also because I got held back in kindergarten because of a speech impediment

But in kindergarten, the teacher gave us all books for Christmas, but since I got held back, she was like oh that’s above your reading level so she took the book back and that has traumatized me and you can’t take ebooks back

Wow, I’m kind of shocked that they could do a book fair with the books as an afterthought. They always had some really cheap $5-$7 books at the one’s I went to. That’s - bummer, though some of the gadgets and trinkets could be cool. A book fair where the books are an afterthought… mannn

And god that’s so shitty, like even if it was true, you’d be able to read it someday. She had the opportunity to make it into an achievement for you, and went in the completely opposite direction
