So why doesn’t our generation drive like the ones before us did? Curious about people’s opinions and insights into this. Everyone used to drive by at least 17-18 or when they could afford to. But now people don’t drive. And it’s not as if public transportation has gotten halfway decent In the past 10 years.

A lot of people aren’t able to get their license at an early age and that’s okay

You don’t even need to be scared to drive either. Some people don’t have the money, the car, nor help or support. You can’t talk shit about people and rely on the but let’s also not act dumb on why people don’t have a license at a early age likeeee

Some people are not able to get a license due to medical reasons. I have seizures, which means I need to be seizure free for a certain amount of time before being able to obtain a license

In that case I completely understand, my cousin can’t drive because of that exact reason. But the bitch I’m talking about runs around saying “I’m a grown woman” but all she does is spit out brainrot, can’t drive, nd almost literally cannot take care of herself

Then that is a whole different issue. Sounds like this girl is struggling with their mental health and needs to get themselves help. I hate having to ask people for rides, but my small group understands have seizures and I am always willing to give them gas money for helping me

Even if someone is struggling mentally it doesn’t mean others have to deal with the abuse and insults while doing her a favor. It’s been stated before that the whole point of this was you can’t insult the people that drive you everywhere.

So we both agree. This girl is struggling and needs to get herself help. No one deserves to deal with her behavior and the OP should stop helping her until she understands how to be nice

because now we have other forms of transportation that don’t require our own car. Also taxes, interest rates, and the reason of owning a car differs from now to then

Eh I get the other forms of transportation but cars costs have pretty much stayed stable in the past decade plus. Albeit for a year to two cars got spendy during Covid. Other than that things about about the same other than uber existing.

You compared last generation from when they were 17-18. Last generation to me is our parents and my parents were born within the last decade. So I was going off of the last generation of people spanning from the 80s and 90s reason for wanting a car to todays time
