this is a very reasonable thing to ask, esp since you're just asking for weeknights to just be a little quieter

No way especially if there are established quiet hours in the building. If this doesn’t work the next warning is “please keep it down during quiet hours or I’ll have to bring this up to the RA”.

Super reasonable and nicely asked! Great job naming your needs! Conversations can be relocated but your bedroom cannot be ❤️

My roommate does the same thing.. every single night just on the phone between midnight-2AM. Already talked to her and the RA yet nothing has changed. Set a clear boundary because there’s no reason for her to be on the phone every single night when you’re trying to sleep

“Overstimulated if I don’t get enough sleep” no you get irritable there’s a difference.

Ig not insensitive but I’d be annoyed to get this text. It has no time listed for a possible agreement, it’s overly casual that it’s almost passive, and it’s overly wordy. To other people this is prolly fine but something like “hey, I’m struggling to sleep at night because of volume. I don’t mind you chatting on the phone during the weekends, but could you wear headphones or limit the sound past 10pm on the weekdays?”

Your next step would be filing a noise complaint. I’d also interrupt every phone call that wakes you up with “I’m trying to sleep take the call somewhere else.”
