Reminder to everyone, including my friend who uses this phase TOO much.. “I’m just a girl” started as a song mocking the way men saw us. Now you use it to excuse stuff that is stereotypical ie bad driving… now you are agreeing with the stereotypes…

Like idk who needs to hear it but it was originally to MOCK stereotypes. But now it’s “I hit a curb I’m just a giirrlll” “I spent too much shopping in just a girl” (based on things my friends actually did and then said that about it)

I could be wrong , but for me it comes from being forced to to accept at a young age that things girls did were less cool or boring. The EVERYONE can do that instead of being able to feminine casually. So to me it’s like yea I am just a girl and what are they gonna say. When I don’t want to take the trash out I’m just a girl. Just another perspective

That too bc I have friends who use that to get out of doing things like cleaning and it’s like. I’m a girl too, so I have to take all of the trash out alone at night bc you’re “just a girl?!”
