Me waking up shivering to find out one of my roommates turned the ac on during the night (it’s literally 5 degrees outside)

It’s these kind of experiences that make me questions why schools ever thought it was ok to put two adults in a small ass room together. ATP I rather have a single person cells than have to bunk in a 150 sq ft room. #makeitmakesense #collegeisascam

I had a housemate like this last year. He kept turning the AC on in the middle of winter without discussing it with me or our other housemate. One morning I woke up freezing and had to bundle up to get out of bed. I walked over to the thermostat and it was 48 degrees in the house and when I tried to politely ask if I could put the heat on he started yelling at me “it’s not cold don’t touch the thermostat” and also lied and said our other housemate is the one that changed it

We have our heat on to 76 but its staying at 67-68 and my window is broken sooo i get a lot of cold air in my room😭 mind you ive called maintenance about my window because bugs kept coming in and all they did was put i screen on it

Haha me and my old roommate used to do that. We could not open the window because of the A/C and the A/C sucked. We joked that it was the heat not the A/C. The room was cold as shit once maintenance removed it.

I wish. I sleep so good when it’s cold. Instead they turn the heater up and I get to wake up sweating at 3 am

No i think its like a form of torture. Shoving 2 barely adult ppl in a tiny room together and give them a shit ton of stress and see what happens

I feel you, the heat like doesn’t reach my bedroom in my house so it’s even colder in my room compared to the rest of the house

Both our other housemate and I like it warm. Then he tried to make me out as the problem to our landlord who has known me for years. Mind you this guy never paid his share of the rent

Damn if yall live in a house it’s even more unreasonable. When I shared an apartment with people who always kept the heat on 72 degrees, I would just open my bedroom window a small crack at night to cool my room down and keep a fan going on me. So inconsiderate when it can be a lot harder to warm things up. I turn my ac on sometimes at night but I have it on auto because I live in a basement studio with no windows and I live alone but when you’re sharing a space there’s you have to compromise

I like it warm as well but I try to be considerate of my roommates and not make it too warm, but I woke up this morning and the house was 54 degrees which seems a little unreasonable

Yesss istg there’s a temp difference between my bedroom and the living room

Yeah, and like our other roommate and I would’ve compromised and turned the temperature down some, but to just switch it to AC and let it get that cold without making any other attempt to cool off like turning a fan on (because he claims that “fans don’t do anything they just make a wind chill” which yes they don’t change the actual temperature but they do make a CHILL. They still function in cooling someone off) but he was just an awful person to live with all around. He lied about everything

Bro the fact u asked😭 me n my roommates js change it ourselves…like I live here too if I’m cold imma make it warm n put the temp at a compromise n then they’ll change it if it gets too hot

Fr we all have ceiling fans in our bedrooms and windows that open. If you’re cold put the fan on or open a window there’s no reason the ac should be on

genuinely do not think we are socially set up well enough to maintain social skills if everyone lived by themselves and weren't forced to socialize and learn how to collaborate with another person a bit

That’s fair, I’m also coming from the perspective of a 23 year old jr so my POV is bound to be different. Gen Alpha/late Z I could see having a problem. I feel like school and location play a role too.
