Only clean up after yourself. Find core things that you interact with on a daily basis and tend to those things only. I’m in a similar situation, so I get it.

Literally make a chore chart. I live with 3 others. One does sweeping/mopping of the common area, another does trash and recycle and mail. Third does counters and sink, and then oven and microwave are the fourth option. Then your own room is your own. If they don’t hold up their part, bug them.

my old roommates and i used to mark whatever chore we did with our initials on a whiteboard calendar we had on the fridge and if the distribution wasn’t roughly equal we’d talk to the person who was slacking off and have them get their shit together. that way you have a bit of flexibility too in case someone’s busier one week than the others but you still have accountability. this worked really well for us so might be worth it for y’all to try!

Literally, bro. I almost had a fucking aneurysm living in a communal dorm because of how disgusting the “a little lazy” people were. Dishes in the sink overnight, trash left in the kitchen, floor dirty, piss in the toilet -on the seats- the laundry room a fucking mess.. I couldn't fucking do it. It astounds me that people don't see anything wrong with that.
