Using myself as an example, it takes me on average two hours to do two loads of laundry. If I started at 11pm, it would be 1am when I finished. Add folding, unmaking and making the bed, and an extra load of laundry for the sheets; it would easily be 3am by the time I’m done, if not later. OP’s roommate is inconsiderate as hell

Even if it was just a single load there’s no version of this where the roommate isn’t doing this until after midnight which, for a weeknight, is ridiculous to be doing a chore that could’ve waited until daytime with the given context (and yes, “decided it was time” implies the roommate had other times to do this activity)
