
A few things: 1. If you haven’t met your roommate and live relatively close to each other, ask to grab lunch to get to know them! 2. You need to set boundaries right when you move in. Usually forms will require a roommate contract where you agree on certain things. This could be about guests coming to visit, room cleanliness, sharing things, etc. if you get into an argument about something, always refer to the contract. 3. There’s a ton of events the first week. Ask to spend time with them!
One important factor is to find friends outside of your roommates. I know this isn’t the forum but my roommates never made a single friend outside of the room and all got mad at me when I would go hang out with my friends from work (I was the only one working because everyone else there had parents paying for school) they also got mad at me when I started doing 50 hour weeks because they felt like I was ditching them for work and would just go to bed after working two twelve hour shifts in a row
