Ask them about the logistics of this. How do will these dishes be able to get used again if no one cleans them. For that reason, I have chosen to clean them in the past. Why should I be taking care of you. How old are you? Did your parents not teach you how to do this? Let me teach you how so you can do it by yourself!
I live with a few people and the system we use is having clothespins with our names on them for which dishes are ours and we put them in the counter beside the sink so that the sink can still be used even if there are dishes to do. And then there’s also the accountability of “I clipped this and so recognize that these are my dishes to do that will only get done by me”
I have never seen my roommate unload or load the dishwasher. I understand if you prefer hand washing them, but she doesn’t even do that until days after. I like the sink to be pretty much empty when washing bigger things like the pots and pans we use, which she doesn’t ever end up cleaning.
