I’m not gonna lie if someone’s crying over politics, no matter what the reason, I think there may be a bit of an issue… maybe that’s just me but I have family that’s way too wrapped up in politics and it’s just weird :/

wow it’s almost like politics affects real people’s lives in sometimes very harmful ways and people care about what goes on in politics bc of that fact 🤔

I get that it affects people, but I’ve seen people who get way too wrapped up in it, it’s not good for anyone

sorry but if you aren't in one of the many groups of people whose lives are being targeted and at risk, I don't think you can talk

Yeah, I’m part of the LGBTQIA plus and grew up in a republican town. I’ve been targeted my whole life. But I’m sorry it’s not healthy to allow politics to affect you so much in the day-to-day, I get it. They do affect us, but to be crying over them is not healthy.

I disagree, but I guess I get what you mean. I'm trans and panrom, so I also am a target. I don't cry over it, but I sympathize with people who do, especially those in state where it's worse off then the one I'm in. People are at genuine risk, seeing that small bit of light towards even the smallest bit of security is something to cry over. Tears of joy.

Yeah, but again, just being around people who make politics such a big part of their life I’ve seen how bad it gets. It’s truly not healthy.

It’s also not healthy to be forced to constantly have dread sitting on your shoulders every day as the country trends towards hostility towards you and the people you love more and more (both trans people and brown immigrants or people who just “seem” like immigrants), but a lot of us don’t have a choice in that matter

but they do majorly affect people in their day-to-day like medical autonomy and affording to live… i mean it sincerely— please check your privilege

Exactly, I don’t think people understand how politics isn’t just survey data. It’s whether you can afford to call an ambulance because of insurance. It’s whether you can leave an abusive husband via no fault divorce. It’s whether you can safely use the bathroom in public, if you’re trans. It’s very real and very tangible for a lot of people. Why wouldn’t you feel?
