I hate how morning people don’t think they have to be quiet when other people are sleeping past 7:00 am, but get mad when there is so much as a whisper past 10:30 pm.

As a morning person I completely understand being quiet in the mornings when people are sleeping but once it hits 11am I’m like okay wake up because my roommate sleeps until like 1 pm and I have to legit be so quiet and I want to be able to do my things such as cleaning but can’t. At that point sleeping too much your being inconsiderate.

See I agree but when my roommates won’t respect when I’m asleep, I’m not respecting them

Its actually a nightmare trying to tiptoe and sneak through the dark because I had to go somewhere else to do work since my bum roommate hates noise past 9:30PM (the dorm is alive with some noise until 11) but then blasts his 6am alarm which he SLEEPS THROUGH EVERY TIME and has the audacity to say im the annoying one

I completely understand what you mean by that. I'm a morning person due to classes and my roommates aren't. We don't even get along and I make sure I don't wake them up. So sorry you're going through that rn

My roommate wakes up at 7am and sleeps around 10pm. I wake up at 9am and sleep around 1am. She dictates the lighting for the entire room. She literally turns every light on when I’m asleep and then turns them all off when she wants to sleep

That’s so reasonable! As a late sleeper, I’d say if it’s after like 10:00 do what you gotta do. It’s just that people who are up late tend to be more considerate of other people sleeping.

That’s so true but I live in the dorm and the nights I pull an all nighter to study I always make sure to leave at night time and study at the lounge when my roommates are sleeping I just wish my roommate can do the same because she legit be listening to videos or like slamming doors and her stuff and her light being on also really disturbs my sleep.

9:30pm is a super valid time to sleep. Maybe the reason he’s sleeping through his alarm is because he’s not getting the sleep he needs? If the dorm is constantly noisy he might be chronically fatigued That being said he should stop setting multiple alarms and try to wake up to at least turn them off bc yikes 😭

He can’t help that he’s sleeping through something but maybe sit down and talk to him, suggest a new alarm (unfamiliar noise = more likely to wake up to it) and figure out ways to get your roommate the sleep he needs to stop being crabby

As a night owl. I’ve got like a truly messed up sleep schedule and I’ve made an agreement with my roommate and told her I’m fine with her making noise because I get up super late any time I don’t have classes. And I feel bad if it makes her have to stay quiet. Thankfully I’m from a big family so I’ll sleep through a ton of noises anyways. So that’s why I’m fine with her doing stuff. And then when she goes to bed I just work in the living area and try to be quiet when I make it back to the room.

I mean the problem can be avoided altogether since he has somewhere else to sleep. Like an apartment. If he can be gone from the dorm for a full week but still be in classes and gone on weekends of last semester then I think he has somewhere else to stay

Yea without the context it just sounds like your roommate has some sort of undiagnosed medical thing. I say this as someone with chronic fatigue
