If they even have pets. And I assume that OP has seen the bf use the key to get into the house without them being gone. And even if it is just for the pets, that’s fucked up for the roommate to not tell OP beforehand. It’s a shared house

well morally they can do as they please if they're not breaking any rules, there's no feelings police fortunately. and he could be coming in for any multitude of legitimate reasons even with no pets he could be checking on something else in her room or on her herself.

Where did you get the idea that they have pets? Also most (not all) leases even in houses permit giving keys to non residents. Either way it’s a jerk thing to do, common sense is to agree on who gets a key and they are only allowed to use it for emergencies.

Every apartment I’ve ever rented at has in the lease not to duplicate keys and if you need a replacement to contact your landlord. I’d ask her if there’s a reason he has a key to the apartment and express your discomfort with it and if that doesn’t solve anything tell her you’ll talk to the landlord about changing the locks
