Cleanliness! Shoes on or off is a big one. Though, my roommates and I had a clear agreement and they continue to disrespect us by wearing their nasty ass shoes inside. Make a schedule and agree on it. Your levels of cleanliness might not align with theirs so figure it out before you’re stuck and it gets awkward

Keep your finances to yourself, and if you all decide to split responsibility for shared items, have an organized system or just buy your own stuff. People are SO quick to financially abuse you be so careful pls

if you’re the type of person who has difficulty reading between the lines, make that clear to them and emphasize that being straight up with you is the best course of action when it comes to communication, also make it clear that it’s not crazy to be blunt with you, that even if they might not want to or might not like the idea, it’s what you need from them in order to communicate effectively

drinking/pre gaming at the house, this was my biggest pet peeve when my roommate would bring ppl over n come back home after a night out and not being able to control herself and her guests. Like im talking throw up in the bathroom n finding her friends passed out in the kitchen. It’s just how low are we going and can I get a warninggg???

If the lease and energy bill is separate make them all add themselves to the energy bill no “I’ll cash app you” bs. I feel like the biggest thing is cleanest, there’s nothing for annoying then having someone else’s mess inconvenience you. Make sure everyone is on the same bag abt cleaning so leaving the kitchen clean, taking out trash, sweeping, keeping the fridge cleaned out, not leaving stuff in the sink for bugs and oder, bathroom (if u share) etc. Have a sit down on day 1 tbh

How clean you are (honestly because everyone has different ideas of what that means), rotations like trash or deep cleaning kitchen, if you’re gonna share, what you’re schedule looks like for sleeping/quiet times, etc
