I took a mid day nap and woke up to this. He’s started the wall and there’s atleast 3 completely unused rolls of this left on the counter.

Ok time to get the RA involved cause this is way above your pay grade. I think he genuinely needs help cause a compulsion to cover the walls in what appears to be discounted Hanukkah wrapping paper is not a thing and this needs to be addressed now, particularly before he gets anymore supplies.

Have you asked him if it’s supposed to be a joke? I’m almost wondering if he’s planning a prank on one of his friends under the guise of a “dorm tour” or something. Tell your RA cause that is not ok

Having decorations up like that needs approval from your roommate. It’s ones thing to have crosses on the wall it’s another to do this

I’m gonna add for those who haven’t been following along that the context is the roommate has been putting up this paper after talking about making an “Israel wall” for a couple days now and that this behavior is completely out of the blue. I’ll post receipts.

Yeah when this was just the door I was thinking “ok that’s a conversation about not decorating communal spaces without asking first” but now it’s just concerning.

Even with crosses if the roommate doesn’t want them in the common area they need to be contained to their own room.

He’s such a weird guy. He keeps talking about ping pong and stacking random objects.

That actually sounds normal compared to the amateur wallpaper job he’s doing right now

how is it different? they’re both religious symbols??😭

it’s not the symbol, it’s the action around it. having a little cross on the wall above your bed is very different from manically covering the common area in gift wrap lol. if the paper had unicorns on it, it would still be a bit concerning behavior

One is your whole apartment when you didn’t even get consent from the other parties who live there a cross is a singular item and yes if you don’t talk with roommates don’t have in common area. But a cross and basically wallpapering the whole house is very different. One is small in size easy to ignore if you don’t want to see it the other is literal wallpaper that you can’t miss.

the size of the decoration doesn't matter. they need to be agreed upon in a shared space

Because the intention behind it is to make a “ Israel wall“not to show support for Judaism
