Just ask what he likes about those time periods. He could lowkey just be a nerd and really like that time period, it could also be something he and his dad do together as a sort of “father son” bonding thing. Just bc it’s that period doesn’t inherently mean he’s gonna be racist. That being said your fears could be answered or disproved depending on his answer
