Genuinely don’t know if I should confront my roommate abt spreading lies abt me to their PARENTS which got back to my grandma (thankfully she’s amazing and didn’t say anything to my parents and asked me what was going on first)

Get your grandma to shame the grown ass adults that are gossiping about people they never met. As for your roommate, start a conversation with “so my grandma heard some weird things about me. Something about (insert lie here). You know anything about that?” and see what happens.

I once tried that and unfortunately I was told that she has the right to vent/rant to her family which is valid but it’s just hard to be okay with when it’s fictional bullshit 🫤

it’s not venting/ranting if she’s just lying. it’d be one thing if she was complaining a lot about minor things you do and it got blown out of proportion but it’s a whole other thing to invent things someone doesn’t do and spread it around

There’s a difference between venting and lying and she’s lying. Honestly the fact that she has to lie in order to have anything to vent about means you’re doing nothing wrong and that infuriates her for some reason. Best to leave that situation as fast as possible before those lies get told to someone with more impact on your life.
