I mean it really sucks for the cat to be locked up in a room all day and you're likely to be dealing with it screaming all day if it's stuck in a single room but your roommate should have discussed these boundaries with you when you first moved in

it’s out when we have maintenance (they specifically ask us to have our pets in our rooms), she lets him out at night while she sleeps, and doesn’t empty the litter often enough so it stinks
