Ok so it’s thought that I have autism by many people and my therapist, but the screening is too expensive. Ok whatever I just say I have issues with overstimulation. This one “friend” though, she made fun of me for being autistic about hub caps? Like… I

Pointed one out that was broken off into the street bc it’s random. Apparently that means to her I’m autistic. And I’d be fine if it was something that had actually made people think I have autism, such as friends making light fun of my food habits (but they always make sure there’s food I can eat ❤️❤️), but it’s the fact that I do anything and this one girl says it’s autism. You love animals? Autism. Dressed as a favorite character for Halloween from a long loved movie? Autism. It’s so annoying.

I mean I got diagnosed cus I was holding a badminton racquet “autistically” (this is true ngl that’s what led me to get a formal diagnosis) but for your case I’d just tell her that it bothers you. If she doesn’t drop it I’d ignore her and possibly fade her out (ik it isn’t a satisfactory answer but people only change if they chose to)

Surprise surprise she apparently also has autism. And I don’t like to sit here and be like “no she doesn’t” bc idk what’s in her brain. But I will say that she 100% acts different since the diagnosis. Like she uses it as an excuse for everything “no I can’t I’m autistic” for a task I’ve seen her do 100 times. She also will ask for the things that I use to manage myself bc she won’t bring her own. Like my water, fidgets, earbuds, etc. She also didn’t like that I held hands with the person next

To me when I was getting overstimulated/overwhelmed in this restaurant. That person is my best friend who IS autistic, diagnosed by multiple doctors. The only person I’m really ok touching me when that’s happening. He lets me hold his hand when it’s happening until I can center and be ok again. Well the “friend” kept being like “you know you can hold my hand” etc et. And shoving her hand out to me across the table. My best friend had to tell her “yeah that’s not helping”. And then she said

“Oh but I’m overstimulated too” and proceeded to just sit there looking at us completely fine. I know that people handle over stimulation differently, but I’m sorry it seemed really odd that she vocalized to us that she was overstimulated and then seemed remotely fine, continued on in conversation and everything. Meanwhile I was silent, earbuds it, just obviously not ok
