Wow that’s insane. Anyway the hobos during the Great Depression used to eat a thing called “mulligan stew”. It generally consisted of beans, ketchup, and whatever vegetables/meat rations were available

Also the word hobo used to not be pejorative. It used to be a term for “nomadic” laborers who would hop on trains and find work across the country
