For context, the bathroom lock is loud because when you open the door, it springs back into place and makes a loud noise (same as slamming the door). If you received this text would you be offended/would you listen? I want to be forward but also polite, and I want her to listen to my request
more casual would come across as DEFO not upset; formal might make someone overthink more/feel worse. i might even just say smth like “hey im sorry but loud noises scare me at night (idk explain your issue very brief+casual), would you mind trying to shut the doors quieter etc when im asleep? just wanted to tell you about this so we’re on the same page!” and tha way there not getting a big scary formal text
Yea im ngl if my roommate asked me to stop locking the bathroom door because it wakes them up out of there sleep I would tell them no. Simply because it sounds creepy. And I wouldn’t feel comfortable using the bathroom without it. But if you asked me to stop letting doors slam/ slamming doors that’s a reasonable ask while trying to sleep.
I can see how it could come off as creepy. I’m just frustrated because it makes a really loud noise and there’s no reason to lock the door at midnight while im sleeping. I don’t lock it out of curtesy for her when she’s sleeping because it makes a noise the same volume as slamming the door when it springs back into place, but she doesn’t think to show the same common sense/consideration as me. It’s just really frustrating to have to ask someone not to do something so obvious
