You may have black mold if it’s a weird musty/earthy smell. My room/apartment used to smell weird all the time until I got a plant that helps suck up mold spores so it’s better now. I’m moving out in July so I don’t want to take the time to do mold testing kits, but that may be something you should try if you’re living there for a while.
