Can I do anything to help my fuckass roommates dog? They’re neglecting their dog, they only let the dog out when it has to shit & pee, the dog is in the room the entire day…

Context: My other roommate 2 confirmed they do not walk the dog, roommate 2 works from home, I’ve been sick this entire week so I’ve been doing school from home and it’s insane that the dog isn’t being taken out on a simple fucking walk, I mean do I just let the dog suffer???

Might cause drama, so proceed with caution: you can request an anonymous welfare check for local animal control. It does not mean the animal will be taken away, they just check that it has enough food, water, shelter, and is in good health. Might scare her straight

My roommate with her cat. She’ll leave it in the apt and go home for I think the longest was 4-5 days. Bc it has an automatic litter box and she free feeds it. I’ve also NEVER seen a single cat toy, like it literally has nothing to do. It’s just always sleeping or waiting for her.

Another option: start taking care of the dog yourself, let it go potty, take it on walks, play with it. Easy if the dog is in common areas, if it’s mainly kept in your roommates room just open the door and let it out (don’t knock) if your roommate is in the room with the dog tell them you thought they weren’t home cause you haven’t seen the dog in a while and thought she’d need to potty

There is no excuse for animal neglect, when you get a dog you make a commitment to put their needs first, pets are not accessories, they are living breathing creatures with needs and getting a pet is not a decision that should be made lightly

I appreciate your response but we live in a suite situation so we have our own rooms + it’s not my responsibility and based on previous encounterments they are such a fucking man child who’s always in the right there’s no mature or calm way of intervening so yeah it would start drama I just feel so bad for the dog
