Only time this doesn’t apply is if you’ve got some sort of arrangement like mind where whoever cooks, cooks for both, and whoever eats the other one’s cooking does the dishes, because that’s fair. That’s how my girlfriend and I do it, and that’s how my old roommates and I did it if I cooked enough for them to eat my stuff too
