is it weird for my roommate to have her friend sleep over without letting me know or asking first? mind you she said my boyfriend can't stay past 11 oclock...

we also always make it a point to leave when she looks like she's getting ready to go to sleep we never hang out in there while she's sleeping

It is weird and if you are fine with her friend sleeping over then you should probably bring up that it’s not fair that your boyfriend can’t do the same.

I do feel like this is slightly different- I can fully understand a woman being uncomfortable with someone’s boyfriend staying over, especially if they don’t know the boyfriend very well, but being completely find with a gal pal staying over. I feel like the really unfair part of this is actually the part about there being no warning or asking for approval when there seemed to be a strict set time when the bf had to leave regardless of situation

TLDR; I don’t think it’s that weird for a roommate to have different comfort levels regarding a gal pal staying over compared to a bf, however roommate absolutely should have communicated better and actually asked if op was ok with the friend staying the night.

i agree. i wouldn't have minded her friend staying over at all if she said something. it's just the fact that she expects me to follow these rules when she can't give me basic communication about who's staying in our space
