New RA here. I had a bad mediation with a resident and now they won’t acknowledge me or other RAs that they’ve seen me with (primarily women of color lol) and idk how to be nice or repair that relationship since I’m non confrontational, any tips?

Hot take but you don’t need to repair the relationship, you have a minimal job duties to them and it doesn’t include being super nice all the time

I was thinking that too but I wasn’t sure. My advisor is the type that’s heavily reliant on constant interaction with residents and stuff and being very extroverted about interactions.

i would sorta disagree in the sense that while it isn’t necessarily our job to repair the relationship, we do still need to be there for them and establish a positive presence in our halls

Yes but that also goes both ways. If a resident is not interested in being involved we can’t make them and ultimately it is their choice
