Talk to him about his interests, share yours, etc. find things for you two to do together more, I’d start as a group of friends meeting up, then come up with a reason for you two to meet up alone gradually

I've mostly only hung out with him in group settings and we pair off sometimes. I know we're both into art and outdoorsy stuff, so I might try and ask him about those
