I have struggled with disordered eating for going on 10 years and the last 3 I’ve really been working on fixing my relationship with food and myself. I used to struggle with restriction and now that I’m suffering from depression I keep binging. Any tips?

FSU offers Nutritional counseling for student for free I believe. I would also recommend looking for a therapist.

I struggle with BED, binge eating disorder, I’m on Wegovy to help with the severe food thoughts and cravings, I also go to counseling and have a dietitian. My advice, don’t restrict. That always made it worse for me. I like to suck on sugar free candies like jolly ranchers that are sugar free when I’m craving sugar. Also keeping up in water intake will help a good amount too. Best thing is watching calories but not restricting what you eat.

Go ahead and have a KitKat if you want one, just track the calories. Eat lots of protein too. Limit carbonation during large meals, it expands your stomach and slows down your response to fullness. Start with smaller bowls/plates of food then go get more if you’re hungry 5 minutes after finishing it. Don’t get big bags of chips, get small ones. Drinking flavored water and chewing gum also helps with cravings too. And distracting yourself a ton helps too. I like going on walks with my fat dog.

Plus you can talk to a psychiatrist or your primary care physician about the eating issues and they can possibly provide a prescription for suppressants or supplements to try out, if you’re willing for meds. I tried 6 different medications before I was allowed to try Wegovy. But MAN does it help. Especially since I’ve struggled with BED since I was 6. (I have ADHD too 🥲.) some meds made me hormonal, some made me tired, and most didn’t do much. Phentermine did well but I got irritable easier.
