okay i know it's really bad and i criticize her a lot for "promoting an ed", also cause she has pretty young fans and that's just not something you should promote to anyone but can we please not act like this, i mean we should definitely draw attention to that but maybe without acting childish and putting her down?
yeah ik that's why i put the word "promoting" in double quotes, but it's still very wrong of her and especially her team and the people close to her to not do anything... it's extremely concerning that she goes on tour struggling like this and it's also not helpful when young girls see her and have her as an idol and think that's normal cause it's not, an ed can literally kill you and not saying shit or being childish about this topic isn't gonna help.
you don’t know her team isn’t doing anything. and you citing that as a “concern” doesn’t change the fact that the way you’re choosing to talk about her (engaging with her thinnest photos and sensationalized posts doing forensic body commentary) is exactly what ED organizations and psychological clinicians have been BEGGING people for years not to do. focus on your own life
also, hiding behind the argument that “young girls see her” is weak and pathetic. there are plenty of horrible things that young girls see that are normalized and much more destructive. school shootings, politicians SA’ing young girls without recourse, overt sexualization, abuse to name a few. you’ve hyperfixated on this one topic because everyone else is. it doesn’t hide the fact that you don’t actually care about young girls and what they see
girl stfu. if you want to use what people “see as normal” as a talking point, be ready to talk about what people ACTUALLY see as normal literally all the time. and again, you don’t know shit about any discussions or decisions that have happened with ariana or her team, certainly not whether they were made with her capabilities in mind when planning the show. are you a doctor or ED specialist? or just another faceless person band-wagoning on a tired ass topic
i never said that. it’s not my business whether she looks healthy or not. i’m not a doctor, much less not her doctor. whatever she’s capable of it between her and her doctor. it’s quite frankly not my fucking business to talk about or comment on. and it’s not the business of some faceless idiot rubbing one out to joining this tired conversation about her body that’s been going on for years now.
healthy looks different for different people. the discourse people have been having for years about being able to see her collarbones and sternum. i’m a 5’7 man with a healthy bmi, you wanna know what you can see on me? my collarbones and sternum. i’m just fucking thin. everyone’s body is different. you just don’t know shit about her body because it’s not your body and you don’t know her personally, or in any way except what you see through your algorithm
no tf it is not. i dont know her, you don’t know her. people like you and their parasocial infatuation with needing to give celebrities everytbing is gross and toxic. she is her own person. she and those closest to her can decide what she needs, if anything at all. your belief that you as a fan know what’s best for her and what she needs is a blatant attempt at control and trying to have agency in a situation where you have none. it’s quite sad
yeah your right healthy is different for everyone and i didn't mean that you shouldn't see her collarbone or anything... i mean that you can literally see everything like even her whole face looks much thinner... also i'm not just talking about the picture but about her performances and how she acts as well...
she literally was a child actress on a set with a perv director who fetishized her feet and SA’d multiple other children. she became a pop star whose concert was bombed, and the media blamed her for it. she disappeared for a little bit then wrote an album about mac miller, and then when he died of an overdose she was blamed for not being there for him enough
do you think you’d be a little different after that experience? maybe a bit traumatized? i fucking would. and most of all, i’d want people to shut the fuck up and stop talking about me, my relationships, and my body, ESPECIALLY if i explicitly and in no uncertain terms told them to stop talking about it all. stg y’all don’t listen
omfg you. don’t. know. her. you only see what’s in front of a camera and what your social media decides you need to see. you don’t know what her looking and acting healthy is, only what you think it isn’t. and trying to say that she shouldn’t be participating in her art/tour because of what you think is unhealthy? baby that’s control to a T
how would you feel if a group of strangers all came up to you at work and said you don’t look or act healthy, that you look unwell and need to recover, that you aren’t capable of doing your job, that it’s concerning and sending a bad message to your family? you’d be a bit weirded out, no? i’d think any rational person would, because they’re strangers. you’re a stranger to her, most of us are. we don’t get to comment on her personal life just because we consume her art
tbh you’re projecting quite a bit when you brought up parasocial relationships. no one is saying that she didn’t go through an overwhelming amount of trauma, which she did, so I don’t know why you’re essentially weaponizing her trauma in your own favor in this little argument between you and 1.
a parasocial relationship is, by definition, feeling a deep connection or friendship with a media figure who doesn’t know you exist. i have been saying literally this entire time to leave her alone about shit like this because we don’t know her, she doesn’t know us, it’s not our business, she’s always said to stop talking about her especially following times of trauma. so please explain exactly how i’m projecting? because to me it seems like that’s a big word for elmo
no. a parasocial relationship is an unreciprocated one-sided emotional connection with someone whom you do not personally know or have a relationship with. do you think that analyzing and discussing the state of individuals who are in public media, especially individuals who hold a major platform, is somehow inappropriate and/or parasocial? if individuals were engaging in such analysis or behavior out of some belief that they personally “know” Grande or some shit, then sure, but acting as if
discussion of the health of public figures based on their repeated appearances is not in and of itself parasocial. you weaponizing her traumatic past in favor of your argument though? personally I’d argue that’s a bit parasocial, and her past trauma does not dismiss the current concerns of ED, if anything they only add context as to why it may be occurring (IF it is occurring, as you mentioned none of us are her doctors and no one has confirmation; but this doesn’t mean that conversations
