Exactly! Personally, as a bisexual woman, I felt that the story was very important for representation. It shows the two dudes in a masculine industry learning how to be vulnerable and communicate with each other. It is spicy, I won't deny that, but the show has more substance to it than some may assume.
f we’re following your logic YOU’RE not allowed to watch Iron Man, Merlin, Sherlock Holmes, Tangled, Cinderella and more because you’re not straight. It only becomes weird when someone takes the show as an excuse to treat real life gay people like their entertainment. you’re weird as hell for gatekeeping a whole tv show.
i’m a gay trans guy and i completely disagree. yes being obnoxious and a weirdo and pushing your attraction to it onto real people (gay men or the actors in hr) is loser behavior and fetishization, but there’s is no denying that the characters’ dynamic is hot and intriguing to many people, queer or straight. plus speaking from experience, media like this is how a LOT of people realize they aren’t straight or cis.
notice how i said “once you push it onto real people then it’s weird”? you are allowed to be attracted to something regardless of your identity or sexuality, that’s what things like romance novels (ex. the book series the show is based off of) are made for. but yes once you start projecting it onto real people then it’s not cool. that goes for any relationship in fiction, straight or queer.
