Check the roots for health. If there’s green there’s something to save, it just may involve a lot of trimming

They’re dramatic. Try to give it a good bottom watering soak and trim off what’s definitely dead. Don’t water again until the soil is completely dry at the top

Yeah trim the dead leaves Check the roots. If they’re firm, not rotted (squishy and dark and stink), and not dried out (will look like twigs), they’re okay. This kind of issue will likely come from the roots

when i repotted it, the soil was so dense and dry i absolutely could not get at the roots without snapping some. should i try anyway to see if there are still live roots or does that mean it’s gone?

Try to rinse the soil out with a hose or into a bucket so you don’t clog your drains. If the soil is that dense, it needs new, healthier soil

Overwatering is from the frequency of watering, not the amount you give It’s about whether the roots have access to oxygen. When sitting in wet soil, it can’t get that, it’s suffocated. Having sufficient light, airflow, drainage, and proper pot size is important to make sure the plant won’t suffer from that. For pot size, you shouldn’t have to worry too bad about it if it’s right. It should be 1-2 inches wider than the root ball (not the foliage)

i just repotted it the other day so the size should be okay. but when i took it out of the original pot, the soil was so dry and dense that i could not pry it away to get to the roots. the roots i touched sounded very dry and crackly so i’m worried its gone
