Plant Parenthood on Sidechat | any tips on if there’s a method to getting big leaves? i have an alocasia that’s gotten new growth but almost all of it are leaves a third the size of the old ones. i’m happy to see her doing good regardless but would love some big leaves!

The amount of roots=the size of leaves. That’s why moss poles for airoids give big leaves for example. I’m not an expert on alocasia (they hate me), but with most plants the more roots you’ll have, the stronger the plant will be and the more energy it will have to support and grow larger leaves

I LOOOVE alocasias! Lots of light! Light is your best friend with those guys. Just make sure you don’t burn the leaves and keep the soil damp but not soggy, the roots like being wet but not sitting in water from what I’ve found.
