I brought home a beautiful alocasia a couple weeks ago, and it was root bound and needed a repot. It’s dropped almost all of its leaves, but also pushed another out. This is my first alocasia, is this normal and is it going to survive?

What kind of potting medium did you use? How much bigger was the new pot?

I used a mix of indoor potting mix, perlite, and orchid bark, and I went one pot size up

It can be normal for alocasias to behave like this after repotting. They are typically sensitive to root disturbance, and can go into shock, which is why you’ve seen it drop so many leaves. It’s a good sign that it’s popped out another leaf, and your mix/pot size doesn’t sound bad. Try to avoid disturbing it further and keep the soil moist but not soggy. Given time it should recover and start putting out new growth, just keep an eye out for any additional stress markers.
