What makes it invasive is the effect it has on the environment and majority of the plants we use in landscaping in America are nonnatives

I live in Southern California but do research there are many palms that can grow in colder areas if you are in them 🙏

I love the sheer variety of trees that people plant here

If you live in socal why are you planting this? They are environmentally detrimental and act as weeds

https://www.sdhortnews.org/post/going-wild-with-natives-palms-no-native-trees-yes even if there was no research, it is common snese to not plant nonnatives especially in an area already affected by invasive flora

First of all the link doesn’t work and secondly just because a plant is non native doesn’t mean it’s invasive the are 2 very different things that is the real common sense

There is no risk especially with this species because it grows slowly like most other palms and is not even fruit for another 15 years also it requires warm humid conditions which is not SoCal the likelihood of it being invasive is little to none considering its cousin the queen palm is one of the most commonly planted palms in SoCal and is non invasive

And i know it is every where in socal, but it doesn’t mean you are gonna plant more what logic is that?? The horticulture and garden clubs here advise against it even in oc where its everywhere
