My orchid plant keeps growing new leaves but not a stem for flowers. I checked its roots and all are healthy. Idk what to do to get more flowers.

It’s a cycle. It only blooms once a year or even two years in some species. When was the last time it bloomed? And how did you prune it last time?

Some plants predict what season it based on external factors. Light/humidity/rainfall (or watering in your case) are some tells. If you’re using natural light on it, then it’s possible that your orchid knows that it’s winter just from the shorter spouts of daylight, and knows to not waste energy on producing flowers. So it’s probably not your fault, might just be the plant following its own rhythm.

If it’s a phalanopsis they bloom really well if there is a major temperature drop at night. They do tend to bloom in winter. If the plant is otherwise healthy, you can fertilize it and try keeping it in a cooler place at night but no freezing of course.

i’ve found the best way to care for an orchid is putting it in water. like a pothos propagation, after doing that 3 months ago i starting getting new roots and a new stem with so many buds, still waiting for it to bloom!!

I keep mine in moss, water biweekly (heavy give or take), and fertilize (with orchid formula) once in between waterings

If it’s producing more leaves, then I think it’s due to a lack of sunlight. Maybe get a special lamp to make up for the shorter daylight hours during the winter? Don’t overdo it, you don’t want to scorch your leaves, but maybe a couple extra hours in the evening with the lamp may do it.

It bloomed last about two years ago if I remember correctly. It was already blooming when my mom gifted it to me. I pruned the dry stem after the blooms fell off.

I’ll look into a lamp because it’s doing great otherwise by growing long healthy roots and new leaves

Don’t put it in plain water, you could try water with some nutrients but otherwise it won’t grow much.
