pitbulls were actually bred as bait for bear hunting and are only considered a ‘dangerous breed’ because so many of them have learned to distrust humans from being abused 💔 they do not posess any known genetic markers that make them any more dangerous than any other breed

I watched my older sister get mauled by one when I was little but I’d never curse a breed like that:( it could’ve been any other dog

60% of dog bite related fatalities are caused by pit bulls. the next highest is rottweilers and they only account for 15%

He’s our first and my parents were duped by the listing of “lab-mix” but he’s the gentlest and most loving chunk we’ve ever known!!

This number is skewed by media reports meant to cause a stir, reporting that offending dogs are pitbulls even when they’re not. Before pitbulls became the media’s favorite breed to hate, they martyred other breeds like German shepherds and Dobermans for being “aggressive” and attacking people

https://atts.org/breed-statistics/statistics-page1/ This is a report on how well different breeds have done on on an aggression test. Almost 1000 pitbulls have been tested and have an 87.6% pass rate, higher than many breeds including Australian shepherds, beagles, corgis, and chihuahuas.

Did you know that pit bulls were really popular back in the day?

This data is also skewed because any square-ish dog is called a “pit bull” no matter what they are. Could be any kind of mutt, mastiff, boxer, etc that is vaguely boxy

can you show me an instance of the media reporting than an offending dog is a pit bull when it isnt?

that’s not how media bias works. it’s the stories that are chosen to be reported on. we also wouldn’t know if there was a misnomer, because there’d be no way to check.
